The top of this Desk is made up of three Narra panels joined with Maple butterfly keys. One of the keys is interchangeable with a split version that allows discreet wiring from below for any computer components. It is a beautiful surface to work at, but this Desk is really all about the base. Most of the surfaces have been shaped to give them a soft, pillow effect. The legs were carved from blanks about 6” thick. As they rise from the bottom plates, they curve and twist. I used a technique that involves dipping parts in hot sand to create three dimensional shadow effects in the Maple intarsia “foliage” set into the leg bottoms.

Intarsia - Figured Maple is set into lower surface of legs. This is the “visitors” side of the desk. A similar, but different pattern is set into the legs that face the user. Sand shading technique is used to create shadow effects. Legs are sculpted into base plate.
